“To give anything but your best is to sacrifice the gift”
Sam Osborne is emerging as one of New Zealand’s leading triathletes.
The Rotorua based athlete is currently living, training and racing his way around Europe. Racing on the ITU circuit and also in the German Bundesliga for his team DSW Darmstadt. Throughout the 2015 and 2016 season Sam’s world ranking has moved considerably ranking him as New Zealand number 3.
After racing mountain biking as a junior, he made the switch to triathlon in 2007 after some very enthusiastic teachers at school, pushed him towards the change.
Sam is currently a member of the support team for Rio Olympic bound athletes Andrea Hewitt and Ryan Sissons as lead training partner for both Andrea and Ryan under the guidance of their coach Chris Pilone.
2015/2016 has seen Sam test himself against the best off road triathletes in the world also. With great success winning Xterra Sweden, placing 3rd at ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships and gaining 7 Xterra World Tour podiums all in the first season out of U23. Sam also holds the run course record for Xterra NZ and Denmark.
